Rivian is a EV car brand, made for the people that like the outdoors.
I really don't know how to start this post because there are so many ways to start, so I'm just going to start listing off things that make Rivian such an amazing car brand. So first they are an electric car brand, meaning that they are not only quiet, but are helping save the environment. Second, they make trucks, and SUV's. now if you go look at my Tesla post, (Tesla is Rivians number one competitor) you will see that all of them are very aerodynamic, not only so they can be fast but so that they can get good mileage, and that's the only way they thought it was possible to get good mileage. Rivian on the other hand... well I'll just let the picture explain itself. Perhaps one of Rivians biggest feats is making their pickup truck. Trucks obviously have beds, that make it easy and convenient to put stuff in the back, but they also create a lot of drag. Rivian isn't any different, but still gets 30 miles more on a full charge than a fully charged Tesla Model S. So how did they do it?
Most electric vehicles, including Tesla, use a venerable 18650 battery cell. of course there are lots of cells, that make one big battery. The 18650 is a lithium ion battery cell, that was first used in
computers, but was scaled up to a car size for brands like Tesla. but Rivian doesn't use the 18650. They use a different cell called the 2170. The 2170 is about 50% larger than the 18650, and can bear twice the current. They also have a very advanced cooling system, that has a metal chill plate in between every row of battery cells, giving them longer life on a single charge.
Now let's get into the interior. I'm just going off of pictures from the internet, but, the inside of this thing looks like you'd imagine a spaceship would, yet it still gives you that "in the woods" feel. It has a leather or microfiber steering wheel, and behind that on the display, where it would show the speed on the highway, can be turned into a camera in the front of the truck, with stats on then trucks handling. Now obviously you should only use this when you're off-roading, but I still believe it could be a very useful feature. The pickup has two rows, and the SUV has three.
Now the outside is what I have really observed so far. It has a strip of led lights for the headlights instead of having two separate lights. Separate lights are so last year. Its the same way in the back, except the lights are red of course. If you look at both the truck and the SUV, it looks as though they just kept the same front design for both, but in the back is where it changes for both of them. The back of the truck of course has a bed, because they used the traditional truck design for both of them. In the back of the SUV, it has a third row instead of a bed, and it also has a small trunk space. For the truck, right under the bed it has a little pop out where you can sit to gear up. inside of that space is a little hollow area where you can store your kayak or canoe paddles.
